Fixations is a survey of Bruce LaBruce’s prolific career spanning over three decades, consisting entirely of photographs taken by the artist and images from his films. Offering insights and glimpses into Bruce LaBruce’s mind and his creative process, Fixations showcases a mix of various media - 35mm, digital, Polaroid, and screen stills - that help to define a creative that has often remained indefinable.

The title of the book is a nod to the recurring themes of sexual fetish, taboo, and subversion that run through the artist’s body of work. Never one to shy away from pushing boundaries, Bruce LaBruce’s aesthetics and his artistic vocabularies are diverse and eclectic, and have remained both lauded and polarizing.
